Kent State University!?

Kent State University!?

What an exceptional week in Kent, Ohio. Starting with our arrival, Archana Mehta was the perfect hostess and guide. Greeting us in the hotel lobby and escorting us to the KSU School of Fashion and museum, where we received a rundown of what we were about to embark on.

Forgive me if I forget any names, we met many people in a short time. We first went to the museum and were given a glimpse at the Aimee Lee: Every Last Scrap exhibition. I recommend to see it before it goes!

After the museum, the afternoon was spent meeting some of the faculty, Joanne Arnett, J.R. Campbell, Sue Yoder and Jackie Hughes, each one kind, funny and so very devoted to their students' success. We set up our print room for the workshops in the DI Building. A fantastic space open to everyone affiliated with the University where you can use equipment and receive guidance for special projects. There is also a community membership allowing members of the public to utilize the facilities.

The next two days were filled workshops, three hours each, filled with students and faculty.

The purpose of the workshops was to teach one of our graphic making techniques and have the participants create their own prints using the technique.

The demo was the same for each workshop and because of everyone's creativity, the end products were spectacular.

The final day was a treat for us. We spent the morning meeting with some very bright and talented junior students working on their zero waste projects. The afternoon was a warm reception in a gallery displaying all of the creations from the workshops. Our visit ended with alight hearted presentation from Simon followed by a Q&A and a couple great stories.

Thank you KSU School of Fashion and all the staff and mostly the students for making our trip  a success.
