Ben Copperwheat : March Artist In Residence

Ben Copperwheat : March Artist In Residence

Last week, we welcomed artist and designer Ben Copperwheat as the first Artist in Residence at When Simon Met Ralph. Across March 17–18, our studio became a space of shared making, where guests were invited to explore the process of silkscreen printing and rework worn garments into something entirely new.

.

Ben is a long time friend and uses similar techniques as WSMR. We had a lot of fun sharing nuances of the process and collaborating on some prints.

Working collaboratively with Ben, participants engaged directly with materials, layering imagery, texture, and personal narrative to create one-of-a-kind pieces. The process reflected a mutual commitment to craftsmanship, experimentation, and the value of reimagining what already exists.

Alongside the workshops, we hosted an evening of demonstrations, conversation, and storytelling—sharing histories, influences, and approaches to design. The residency set the tone for an ongoing dialogue between artists and community, celebrating creative exchange and the beauty of making with intention, care, and individuality.
